![]() I had pinned this blueberry swirl muffin recipe from HonestlyYum last week, and when I saw the fresh Michigan blueberries at the farmers market I knew I had to make them. Immediately. Now I'm a sucker for a strudel or crumble of any sorts, but I also needed to know what made them this beautiful navy color. TURNS OUT - it's a blueberry jam/compote type thing smeared on top before they go into the oven. Brilliant. The muffins of my goth dreams. You know the deal, mix the dry ingredients in one bowl. Whisk the wet ingredients separately and add all together! By cooking down a cup of blueberries with a bit of sugar, you get the perfect topping for the batter. The only change I made here was to the crumble, with the addition of a tablespoon of orange zest. Not totally necessary but it definitely adds another great layer. 10/10 would bake again.
